Karen Walker Visible

Karen Walker Visible is a new campaign that aims to highlight, celebrate and acknowledge.

This season Karen Walker eyewear works alongside the United Nations’ ITC Ethical Fashion Initiative to create work in community groups of micro-artisans located in urban and rural areas of Kenya.The Ethical Fashion Initiative’s motto is “Not Charity, Just Work” and their task is to promote sustainable business over aid dependency.

Known for their original and engaging campaigns, this season’s Karen Walker Eyewear campaign features portraits of some of the people who work in and around the Ethical Fashion Initiative set against the landscape that surrounds them. The people photographed here include machinists, cutters, tailors, production managers and metal workers as well as members of the Maasai group who create the more elaborate beading work.

These campaign photos allow a glimpse into the world that the work is coming from. Both the portraits and the landscapes were photographed by a Department Store favourite Derek Henderson. 

As always, colour plays a big part of the Karen Walker Eyewear story, evident in a series of frames in intense turquoise, lavender and tangerine as well as Karen’s signature tortoise-shell.  Karen Walker Eyewear’s Summer 2014 range will be in store from 10th February. We can’t wait!
