ART FOR EASTER: IMOGEN TAYLOR

Continuing to profile the artists involved in our Art for Easter project, today we take a look at the excLusive work created by Imogen Taylor for the project. Imogen’s egg is representative of her surreal painting style with rich, textured detail. Also check out our short interview with Imogen below as well as a snapshot of the artist’s studio above. Imogen’s work, along with all the artists’, is on display now at Simon James Concept Store.

I AM AN ARTIST BECAUSE…
It’s what I always wanted to be and I can’t imagine anything better than making things.

TO ME, EASTER IS …
A good excuse to eat more chocolate.

A SPECIAL MOMENT CAREER WISE HAS BEEN…
Temporarily relocating my studio for a summer to a small hut in the bush, built by my girlfriend’s Granddad on a magic land where she grew up.

OUTSIDE MY WORK, I AM…
An art shop assistant, a waitress and a flautist.

INSIDE MY WORK, I AM…
I think it’s important to stay on the outside of the work and let the work do it’s own thing – give it a little bit of distance. But I guess if I was “inside” the work I’d say I’d be totally committed and open to failing terribly.
